Our Story
In 2011, University Baptist Church of Galveston was a small congregation looking for a part-time pastor. The church had a long legacy of ministry on the island but the membership had experienced significant decline in the days following Hurricane Ike. But God was not done. During the summer, UBC was contacted by Brazos Pointe Fellowship, a growing young church in Lake Jackson, TX about partnering to form a new church on the island. After months of planning and prayer, the two churches voted to start Coastal Community Church. Aaron Sanders, the Student Pastor of Brazos Pointe Fellowship was named the Lead Pastor, University Baptist Church dissolved and generously gave all of its assets to the new church, and Coastal Community launched as a satellite campus of Brazos Pointe on January 1st, 2012.
